We can provide travel insurance if you have irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), subject to a medical screening.
Generally speaking, 'standard' travel insurance policies won't include cover for pre-existing medical conditions including digestive conditions such as IBS. We specialise in providing travel insurance for people who do have medical conditions. We receive referrals from hospitals, GPs, clinics and medical charities from all over the UK.
Obviously we can't guarantee to cover everyone who has irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) - it will depend on your individual circumstances. We need to ask you some questions about how your IBS affects you.
The quickest and easiest way is to go through our online medical screening process, which keeps down costs and therefore premiums.
As long as you've declared your IBS to us and we've accepted to cover it, any medical costs you might incur will be covered. These could include consultations with doctors, diagnostic tests, medication and, if necessary, hospital or nursing care.
If you're unable even to begin your trip because of ill health, your travelling and accommodation costs will be covered.
If you have to extend your trip and accommodation, these costs will be met, not only for you but if a partner or travelling companion has stayed with you. It is therefore very important that anyone travelling with you is covered by our policy so that any claim they need to make that could be in any way regarded as linked to your irritable bowel syndrome will be met. An 'ordinary' travel insurance might decline their claim on the same grounds as they might decline a claim made by you.
Unfortunately, IBS can sometimes be a bit unpredictable. That's why, in our opinion, it's so important to obtain travel insurance that includes cover for your irritable bowel syndrome.
