travel insurance including epilepsyWe regularly cover epilepsy in our travel insurance. If you have epilepsy, it's important that you buy travel insurance that includes it in the cover. If you don't, you open yourself up to financial risk - it's just not worth it.

The more usual travel insurance policies aren't designed to include pre-existing medical conditions, so if you made a claim that was directly or even indirectly linked to your epilepsy, it could well be declined.

We are specialists in providing travel insurance for people with a wide range of medical conditions. We receive referrals from hospitals, GPs, clinics and medical charities from all over the UK.

In all other respects, our policy is like a standard with. To view the areas and limits of cover and the policy wording, please click on the link 'Policy Summary & Wording' at the top of the page.

These days, epilespy is much better understood and has become a more manageable medical condition because of the treatments available.

Obviously we can't guarantee to cover everyone with epilepsy - it will depend on your individual circumstances. We will, therefore, need to get an understanding of your particular situation.

Our experienced staff will be able to tell you if we can offer you travel insurance that includes your epilepsy and, if so, what the price would be. You will also be able to book your policy with them.

What are the travel insurance implications if I have epilepsy?

Our policy is comprehensive and, like other travel insurance, will cover you for a range of things. However, if you have declared your epilepsy to our medical screening service and it's been accepted, we will also cover you for claims directly or indirectly related to your epilepsy.

Most people are, understandably, concerned that medical costs will be covered. However, if you need to cancel your trip on medical grounds, costs you've incurred will be met.

In addition, if you become ill towards the end of your holiday and you're unable to come home on your planned date, we will cover the costs of new travel arrangements as well as additional accommodation costs. These will also be met for a partner or travelling companion staying with you. It is therefore very important that anyone travelling with you is covered by our policy so that any claim they need to make that could be in any way regarded as linked to your epilepsy will be met. An 'ordinary' travel insurance might decline their claim on the same grounds as they might decline a claim made by you.
